Botulinum toxin was the first FDA-approved toxin and remains the most popular botulinum toxin type A preparation.

The onset of action after Botox is approximately 72 hours. This toxin retains protective proteins that can induce antibodies and render treatment ineffective. Early Botox preparations were more likely to produce antibodies. The duration of action of a Botox injection is about 3 months, but in some patients it can be longer up to 6 months.

Comparing Neurotoxins

Botox-

It has since been licensed to treat forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet (in addition to all of its off-label uses). With a molecular weight of 900 kDa, Allergan creates botulinum toxin type A with protective proteins against which some patients may develop antibodies over time, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.
